Yes, because i am not embarrassed to accept it. I abhor those moments. I hate them from my guts. They gave me pain. Pain so immense i never thought i could endure. Those moments took away my childlike happiness: the sheer joy of achieving something even if that thing is minuscule in its magnitude. Every time when i would stand first in my class, there used to be a festival like feeling in my home. Today, as hard as i may try, i can never be overjoyed if i do good in my quiz or get a 'A' in any of my course.
No, because let's face it. Those moments have added to my growing up experience. The maturity or whatever you may call it, has only come because i faced those moments. Now i can think like a grown up whenever i am riddled with some conflicting choices.
So, even if i did not want them in the first place, i have got memories. Memories, which may not bring pleasant thoughts with them, but still i have got them. Hopefully, i will use them to my strength and grow to be wiser and more thoughtful in my approach towards LIFE.
First: I am happy to read your post. I like it for its content.
ReplyDeleteSecond: Let me tell you: yes we were all overjoyed when you stood first in your class. Why? because "we all" measured your worth (or for that matter anyone's worth) by your marks. It all seems so wrong now. Life's greatest tests are not studying for an exam. Life's greatest achievement are not standing first in your class. Any tom dick harry could do that with or without brains. Lets face it. Thats the truth. Today's education is stereotyped in the sense, that there is a certain code to achieving grades and if you can break the code, you're good to go !
You dont have to feel tied to your memories. We all have memories. but as i say this, i now, life's challenge is in retaining the sorrowful and nipping memories of your life in your heart, but still have the momentum to keep going ahead.
I may sound preachy. but this post needs a preachy comment.
But never forget: I value you for what YOU ARE ! I value you for the toughness you have shown over the last year. i continue to value you for being the brother to me !
but, you have responsibilities of a student life. never deter from that! learn because you enjoy. study because you want to. perform because you know how to. succeed because you can do it. cherish memories because they are the truth. keep moving because thats required. love yourself because you know your worth. respect your decisions because you have to prove to yourself. and know that you have the family who believes in you!
Cheers!
Thanks didi for writing this comment for my post. I wrote this because i wanted to get a few things off my heart. I am certain of the fact that words here would not justify my feelings but i will always cherish, love and respect you as my didi. I had cherished you as a girl, as a daughter and and as a student. And now, since you are married, i cherish you as a woman.
ReplyDeletelove you always
Shubham
is your blog name from lewis carroll's fictional creature in his works? just curious :o
ReplyDeletehere is the def. :
ReplyDeleteBandersnatch - 1. an imaginary wild animal of fierce disposition. 2. a person of uncouth or unconventional habits, attitudes, etc. esp. one considered a menace, nuisance, or the like.
yeah the character was, i believe, created by lewiss carroll in the jabberwocky .
ReplyDeletein the 2010 version of alice in wonderland, the creature was a little different from the traditional bandersnatch. it wasnt even called the bandersnatch. it was called the jabberwocky all through the movie.
The memories are a sweet escape! Its an escape after all.Its good for a moments happiness , to push you on again.
ReplyDeleteOnly change is permanent rest everything is temporary. Life will keep on changing and thats the truth above all. You surrounding will change , people you meet will change , people you fall in love will change, you interests will change and the things that matter the most now , the things you cannot live without now will eventually mean nothin to you after some time.
Its all gonna become trivial on day!
Move on with the renewed efforts in search for a land where you belong!
